A PEACH ON A MISSION TO THE MOON

DO ASTRONAUTS HAVE FRUIT ON BOARD?

Space. Infinite expanses. We are writing the year 1969. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and ... peaches conquer the moon with the Apollo 11 mission. But now the farmers are joking! No, the truth. In fact, the two astronauts are said to have brought peaches 380.00 kilometers from Earth with them as provisions. The food should be nutritious and healthy, to eat cold, since there was no hot water and easy to prepare. So peaches flew in space. It is said that the combination of peach and bacon pieces was popular with the two astronauts. We at Bauer prefer to combine peach with passion fruit – and of course with yogurt. 150 grams with only 0.1 percent fat. You do not have to be hot, it is best to enjoy chilled.

THE FRUIT OF THE PASSION FLOWER IS CALLED MARACUJA

HOW THE PASSION FLOWER GOT ITS NAME

With great passion, you can spoon and enjoy the sweet interior of the Maracuja. But that's why it can't be called Passion Flower. That's right! The plant got the name Passion Flower in the 17th century from the Jesuits who immigrated to South America: They saw in it a symbol of the suffering of Christ. The distinctively shaped leaves provided the association. The three pointed leaves reminded of lances, the tendrils stood for the scourges, the ten petals for the ten apostles (without Judas and Peter) and the violet-white side crown corresponded to the crown of thorns. Finally, the five yellow stamen petals symbolized the wounds of Christ. We see the Maracuja as an exotic component in combination with peach – and find it extremely delicious.
