THE PEACH: POME FRUIT OR STONE FRUIT?

What is the inner part of a peach called – stone or seed? Here's a brief explanation: We differentiate between pome fruit and stone fruit. Pome fruits have a core that consists of five chambers, each of which can contain up to two seeds. Apples, pears, and quinces are examples of pome fruits.

Stone fruits, on the other hand, have a single hard, large seed encased within them. This seed – the stone – is also the fruit's pit. Cherries, plums, and peaches are all examples of stone fruits. Another lesson learned. In our fruity assortment, you'll find both pome and stone fruits. Without stones or seeds, of course!
