The beehive
The bees' home is the beehive. Up to 40,000 bees live here. The beehive consists of many small hexagonal honeycombs.
The bee colony
In the bee colony, all bees have a specific task: there is the queen, the drones and the worker bees.
Flowers & Bees
Bees use their proboscis to collect the nectar and honeydew from colorful flowers. After about 200 flowers, their honey stomach is completely full. They then bring their prey to the hive. There, the workers pass the nectar "from proboscis to proboscis" until honey is created
Pollen
When bees fly from flower to flower to collect nectar, a little pollen always gets stuck on their legs. They carry this from flower to flower. This creates seeds in the flowers and a new flower.
Honey
Honey consists of flower nectar that the bees collect. This is stored in the honeycombs in the hive as food for the bees. This causes the water in the nectar to evaporate and honey is created.
cow
The bees are also important for the cows, because without bees there are no new flowers and fruits. And then there is no food for the cows. And we can't eat good yoghurt and drink delicious milk.
